Department of Anedthesiology ,Chengdu Wuhou Hospital, Chengdu, 610041 China Abstract Objective: To evaluate the anesthetic efficacy of chloroprocaine versus lidocaine during epidural anesthesia for caesarean section. Methods: 50 ASAⅠ-Ⅱfull term primiparas scheduled for elective caesarean section were randomly divided into 3 groups: 2% chloroprocaine group(group A,n=50),3% chloroprocaine group(group B,n=50),2% lidocaine group(group C, n=50). Muscle relaxation score was evalulated by anaesthetist. The vital signs (NIBP,HR,SPO2),Apgar score of nenonate and side effects analgesia were recorded. Results The onset time of sense and motor black were faster in group B、C than that in group A, and motor black score there was no significantly different among the three group(p<0.05). There is significantly different in muscle relaxation score between group A ,B and group C(P<0.01),and the reversion of muscle relaxation is faster in group A than that in group B ,C after operation . There was no significantly different in VAS among three group .The effect on hemodynamic in group B,C was bigger than that in group A. The incidences of visceral pain and shivering were significantly lower in group A,B as compared with group C. There was no significantly different in Apgar score among three group. Conclusion: Chloroprocaine can provide better muscle relaxation condition ,the reversion of miscle relaxation quickly ,lower incidences of visceral pain and shivering and don’t affect Apgar score as compared with lidocaine. Although the onset time of 2% chloroprocaine is slower, but the effect on BP and HR is smaller than that of 3% chloroprocaine and 2% lidocaine.
