Methods:A retrospective medical review was performed in 26 consecutive burn patients who underwent plastic and reconstructive operation from April 2003 through December 2004. After rapid induction, oral intubation was performed and connected with anesthesia machine used for ventilation. Chirldren and patients with major burns were kept warm during operation. Indication for extubation was strictly mastered at the end of operation. After operation, patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) was prescribed to relief pain. Results:One patient firstly received angulus oris section under local anesthesia, and then was inducted. One operation was postponed because it was difficult to establish intravenous access. Four patients were monitored with invasive blood press. There had no complication from anesthesia. All patients were satisfied with PCA. Conclusion:Successful management of airway, keeping warm, smooth emergence from anesthesia and satisfying postoperative analgesia are critical for overall success of anesthesia of plastic and reconstructive operation in burn patients.
